10 Symptoms Of Kidney Disease You Must Know

Kidney
There may not be much in the news about kidney disease compared to other health problems like heart disease, diabetes, cancer and Alzheimer’s, but the kidneys rank right up there with most of the body’s other vital organs. There are an estimated 26 million people with kidney disease in the United States, and most of them probably do not even know it.

Some symptoms of kidney disease are easy to dismiss, since they are often associated with other health conditions. Symptoms of kidney disease often do not show up until the disease has advanced to the later stages, making it difficult to detect early. Still, doctors recommend that people be on the watch for the following symptoms which may indicate the presence of kidney disease.

1. Low Energy: Kidneys that are not functioning properly can cause to am accumulation of excess toxins in the bloodstream, which can cause people to feel tired and fatigued. An an inability to concentrate may also be a factor. Since anemia can also be triggered by kidney disease, this can compound feelings of exhaustion and fatigue.

2. Insomnia: Sleep, like so many other functions of the body, is dependent on other systems functioning properly. The build-up of toxins in the bloodstream when the kidneys are not working properly can cause insomnia. Since there is also a connection between kidney disease and obesity, and obesity is often linked with sleep problems, it is a common symptom that affects many of those suffering from kidney disease.

3. Skin Disorders: Ailing kidneys will cause many of the body’s other systems to break down, including the processes that helps keep skin healthy. Dry itchy skin is another sign that the kidneys are not performing as they should be. Bone disease often goes hand-in-hand with kidney disease, and some bone diseases can also cause the skin to flake, dry out, and feel itchy.

4. Frequent Urination: When the kidneys are damaged due to kidney disease, it can prompt the need to urinate more frequently. This is true especially if an increased need to urinate tends to wake you from sleep a lot during the night. There are also other conditions that might cause one to visit the bathroom more than normal, including diabetes, urinary tract infection or prostate problems for men.

5. Bloody Urine: This symptom is probably likely to cause more alarm than many of the others listed here, since it can bring to mind many other serious health conditions like cancer. It’s also quite possible that blood in the urine could be due to a urinary tract infection, kidney stones, or even tumors, so seeing blood in the urine is definitely one of those symptoms that should not be ignored.

6. Foamy Urine: A certain amount of foam that accompanies urine is normal, and it should be easy for anyone to tell when their urine foams up more than is typically does. Excessive foam in the urine is often caused by a substance called albumin which is also found it eggs. Excessive amounts of albumin in the urine could mean that the kidneys are not performing as they should be.

7. Puffy Eyes: Excessive protein in the bloodstream can cause swelling around the eyes. This symptom is one of the few symptoms on this list that can be an indicator of the early stages of kidney disease.

8. Swollen Feet: This is a classic symptom of kidney disease which is triggered when failing kidneys fail to remove excessive quantities of sodium that are accumulating in the body. Although this type if swelling can also occur as the result of heart disease or liver disease, the presence of other symptoms could be a way to narrow down the cause of the problem.

9. Declined Appetite: The accumulation of various toxins in the body can cause someone to feel generally unwell, and it is not at all unusual for those feelings to also cause a lack of appetite.

10. Muscle Cramping: The body’s muscles require sufficient quantities of certain minerals in the body to keep functioning smoothly. Failing kidneys can throw off the balance of these vital minerals and nutrients, which can easily trigger painful muscle cramps.

OFFICIAL: ChelseaFc Sacks Jose Mourinho

Chelsea Jose Mourinho
The 52-year-old, who guided the club to the Premier League title last season, has left Stamford Bridge "by mutual consent" Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Chelsea after a meeting with the club's hierarchy on Thursday.

The 52-year-old, who guided Chelsea to the Premier League title last season, ends his second stint at Stamford Bridge with the team languishing in 16th place in the table, registering just 15 points from 16 games. Chelsea Football Club and Jose Mourinho have today parted company by mutual consent. https://t.co/YYJaxxdE36— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) December 17, 2015

Mourinho had been rewarded for last season's success with a new four-year contract worth £30 million, which was signed in August.

A statement from Chelsea read: "All at Chelsea thank Jose for his immense contribution since he returned as manager in the summer of 2013.

"His three league titles, FA Cup, Community Shield and three League Cup wins over two spells make him the most successful manager in our 110-year history. But both Jose and the board agreed results have not been good enough this season and believe it is in the best interests of both parties to go our separate ways.

"The club wishes to make clear Jose leaves us on good terms and will always remain a much-loved, respected and significant figure at Chelsea. His legacy at Stamford Bridge and in England has long been guaranteed and he will always be warmly welcomed back to Stamford Bridge.

"The club’s focus is now on ensuring our talented squad reaches its potential. "There will be no further comment until a new appointment is made."

Petrol Subsidy: FG Set Petrol Price To #97 As From Next Year

Following increased pressure on revenue and the expenditure profile, the Federal Government has finally yielded to domestic and international pressures to remove fuel subsidy.

This is coming as crude oil prices hit a seven-year low with global reference crude, West Texas Intermediate and Brent trading yesterday at $34.7 and $36.7 per barrel respectively, effectively disrupting Nigeria’s $38 per barrel benchmark for 2016 budget.

The crash has resulted into about N1.45 trillion shortfall in the value of the projected oil output in the international market based on production target increased in the 2016 plan to 2.2 million barrel per day (mbpd), up from actual 1.9 mbpd in 2015.

On official exchange rate of N198/ $1 upon which the revenue projection was based, the value of the total budgeted oil output is $35.14 billion or N6.95 trillion but with the latest price development, the output would now yield $27.8 billion or N5.5 trillion.

The latest price shock is coming less than a week after the Federal Executive Council, FEC, approved the 2016 Medium Term Expenditure Framework, MTEF, which outlined government’s revenue as well as a deficit budget to be funded largely by the oil income. The 2016 budget is derived from the MTEF which is a three-year fiscal plan.

FG to introduce tougher economic measures

Also, the oil price crash was coming at the backdrop of a warning from ministers in charge of the economic ministries and chief executives of federal parastatals in the economy sector that Nigerians should prepare ahead for what it called more austere conditions in view of the strict economic policies being put in place by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration.

The federal executives, who gave the warnings when they appeared before the joint committees of the National Assembly on Finance to defend the 2016, 2017 and 2018 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, MTEF & FSP, documents presented to the National Assembly by President Muhammadu Buhari are Ministers for Budget and National Planning, Udoma Udo Udoma; Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun and State for Petroleum Resource,Ibe Kachikwu; Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele and Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, Babatunde Fowler.

To make the warning real, they disclosed that Federal Government would move fuel price from N87 to N97 per litre in 2016 while removing fuel subsidy, lamenting that excess of N1 trillion has been paid for fuel subsidy in 2015 alone.

2016 budget deficit to increase

With the latest crude oil price development, 2016 budget deficit would increase to about N2.7 trillion from N2.22 trillion, assuming government is able to meet its target of 2.2 mbpd, otherwise the deficit would be much higher.

Also, the development, according to economy analysts, would put more pressure on the external reserves and the exchange rate while forcing the government to resort to more borrowing, thereby increasing both its deficit-to-GDP ratio and debt-to-GDP ratio.

In the 2016 fiscal plan, deficit/GDP ratio was more than doubled to 2.2 per cent, from actual one per cent as at September 2015.

According to the 2016 fiscal plan, Federal Government would only have a marginally increased contribution from value added tax, VAT, at N67.7 billion in 2016, from N67.5 billion in 2015 while additional inflow of N350 billion is expected to come from misappropriated funds recoveries.

The deficit will necessitate borrowings worth N1.8 trillion of which domestic borrowing is fixed at N1.2 trillion while foreign borrowing is about N600 billion. If the oil price remains gloomy in the coming year borrowings would increase or the government would be forced to effect a further cut on expenditure.

Already, recurrent expenditure is projected to fall from 84 per cent in 2015 to 70 per cent in 2016 while capital expenditure is expected to increase from 16 per cent in 2015 to 30 per cent in 2016.

Harder times ahead, FG alerts Nigerians

The Federal Government had yesterday alerted Nigerians to prepare ahead for the tough economic conditions and policy responses it intends to roll out from next year just as it vowed to strictly monitor expenditure of all Ministries, Department and Agencies, MDAs to avoid wastes.

The Federal Government has also planned to reduce the personnel cost from N1.8 trillion to N100 billion as part of moves to reduce expenditure and save cost.

According to the minister, who appeared at the National Assembly, yesterday, attention would be given to Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, to fund the N6.1 trillion 2016 budget, adding that in 2016, it would remove fuel subsidy and reverse the earlier N10 per litre reduction effected by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan this year.

Speaking at the meeting, Udo Udoma, who noted that it was important that substantial reductions were made on the spending pattern if the expected change must come in, said: “In preparing the MTEF, we seek a dramatic shift from spending on recurrent to spending on capital aspect of the budget. It is going to be tighter for everybody. All non essential expenditure would be cut out. We will reduce the overheads by seven per cent.

“We are beginning a journey of change and change has to start with the clarity of purpose of where we are going.”

On the issue of N500 billion for Social Welfare Programme, Udoma said: “As at the time we were preparing the MTEF, we didn’t have the number and we didn’t want to put in anything that we are not 100 percent sure of. We are still going to relate with relevant agencies on the issue. We are making this arrangement because the NNPC and other stakeholders had advised against subsidy in 2016 although consultations are still ongoing in this regard.”

On sources of funding for the N6.1 trillion 2016 budget, the Budget and National Planning Minister, who disclosed that priority would be given to Internally Generated Revenue ,IGR, said: “We will also look at the accounts of agencies and sweep those surpluses that might not be on essential things that we want to focus on.”

Udoma, however, told the lawmakers that “ultimately we must borrow N1.8 trillion to fund this budget apart from all those adjustments we are trying to make.”

Strict monitoring of all MDAs

Also, Finance Minister, Kemi Adeosun, who told the joint committee of the National Assembly that expenditure of all MDAs would be strictly monitored to avoid wastes, said government would take steps to ensure that whatever money was being taken from the account of any MDA was done electronically.

The Finance minister, who noted that measures had been put in place to compel revenue generating MDAs to remit all funds they generated to the treasury, said: “The era when an agency generates money and spends 99 per cent of it is over.”
On strategy to reduce costs of governance, the minister said: “The country paid N1.8 trillion in 2015 as personnel cost but there is a strategy in place in the 2016 budget to reduce it by N100 billion. For instance, we are already working with banks so that we can go cashless, so that we could give debit cards to MDAs to procure items.

N1trn spent on subsidy in 2015

Also speaking, Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, who disclosed that with NNPC inclusive, Excess of N1 trillion was paid for fuel subsidy in 2015, with plans to move fuel price from N87 to N97 per litre in 2016 as well as total removal of fuel subsidy next year.

On the issue of daily oil production target, Kachikwu said, “From August this year, we have been exceeding two million daily production through stringent monitoring of our production by getting quick fixes to instances of pipelines breaking. The internal projection for our system next year is in excess of 2.4 million which is coming from enhanced and increased production from NPDC field.

“A lot of efficiency had really been applied in this regard. NPDC will for instance be producing 300, 000 barrels on its own while other partners would process at least 2.2m barrels. We would address issues of security and other impediments to the realization of our target. We are looking at a collective and holistic handling of security issues between the NNPC and the oil majors with us taking the lead.

On the oil price benchmark of $38, he said: “The projection at OPEC was along the line of the fact that once we do not interfere in term of production cost will lead to a southward movement in terms of pricing. We expect an increase as from early January when we expect it to go up by $45 to $50 per barrel in spite of OPEC projection. We expect it to hit $70 per barrel in 2017.”

Police Arrests Soldier & Fake Naval Personnel For Robbery In Lagos (Photo)

Four fake naval personnel and a soldier were weekend arrested by Lagos state Police command for alleged armed robbery.

The suspects who were all in military attires were arrested by youths at Ilado area of Lagos state while they were fleeing in a canoe after escaping from police detention and handed over to Ilado Police post, near the Ajakoyi Beach.

Handed over to SARS
They were later handed over to the Special Anti Robbery Squad, SARS, of the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja. A resident, Wasiu Omojola, who narrated the incident to Vanguard said:

‘“We are predominantly fishermen but some of us do oil business. The military personnel used to come to extort money from us daily.

We didn’t even know that they were fake officers. They would come in military uniform. Their leader whom we later realized is an Army Sergeant would dress as an Army Lieutenant Commander.

He would gather us and warn that the Army High Command had sent him on a special duty.

“He told us that his group was on Joint Military operation. He then instructed us to contribute N2 millon for his boss. We were able to raise N500,000.

The following day, they prevented us from doing our job, so we had to contribute another N300,000.They still said it was not yet okay with them.

Wasiu Omojola added: “I don’t know how one of us reported the development to Army authorities who said that they didn’t send any team for joint military patrol to our area. When we got the information, we now mobilized against the self- acclaimed joint military patrol.

Extortion and arrest
“When they arrived the following day to resume their extortion, we arrested them. They did not believe it when we took them to the Police.

We were later informed by the same Police that the suspects escaped from their cell, so we mobilized again and gave them a hot chase. We later arrested them and brought them to SARS.”

Police sources said the Nigerian Army has confirmed that the man who claimed to be a Lieutenant is a Sergeant.

“The Army has taken him for court-martial but we have written to the Army that after the court – martial, the man should be brought back to the Police for proper prosecution.”

Susupect speaks
One of the suspects simply identified as Oche said: “Well, there is no job in the country. My friend who is an Army Sergeant brought the idea of going to collect money from those doing illegal oil businesses.

The sergeant provided me with the uniform that I am putting on now. I don’t know about others. Sergeant is the one sharing our loot. I got N50,000 three times but I could not believe it when we were arrested.

“It is true, we escaped from Police cell. We broke through the window protectors. It was while we were escaping through the waterside that we were re-arrested and handed over to SARS.”

Commissioner of Police, Lagos State command, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, said the suspects were rescued from the hands of an angry mob that attempted to lynch them.

“They were robbing people of their belongings. The people were attempting to lynch them when the Police stormed the place and rescued them. The sum of N380,000 was recovered from the suspect.”

10 Signs You Are An ‘Illiterate’ Despite Being Educated

At the mention of the word “illiteracy”, people jump to conclusion that it is the basic inability to write legibly or speak Queens’ English properly, and/or inability to understand or produce written information properly.

But I can assure you that there are several degrees of illiteracy in Nigeria (regardless of your Academic Certification)

To a broad view, many people have earned some level of Academic Certification, they can however read and write which makes them educated, no doubt about that, but ironically, they are not in any way different from the illiterates in the society

I had noticed many types of acts by highly educated people that makes me astound. Now I’m gonna point out some basic illiterate- types act done by most of the educated elites that makes them synonymous to illiterates

Note: The fact that you could admit to see a part of yourself doing these things doesn’t mean you should throw punches at me. cheesy

Here we go!!

10 Signs You Only Went To School But An Illiterate

1. Becoming APC/PDP Tyrants
It’s shameful that some politicians often make use of our so called educated youths to fulfil their political desire. You may find them either in the middle of the road with bottles, creating road blocks fighting for Biafra, GEJ or Buhari, not minding to lay down their lives for the penny offered by APC or PDP. This is one of the illiteracy we are talking about. Smh

2. Poor Dress Sense
To a reasonable extent, your dressing exemplifies what you have inside of you. It is shameful that some acclaimed educated people don’t even know how to dress properly.

Their role model are Davido or Wizkid who are old enough to be their kid brothers” mate.

You will see them sagging, showing their newly bought boxers to the world to see, even though they are not into showbiz. They are not in any way different from illiterates

3. Afterall, “English is not my Mother Tongue
Some educated persons would blame their inability to communicate lucidly and fluently in English on their primary school teachers who had passed on twenty years ago.

When they are caught in moment of blunders, they will opine that, afterall, English is not their native language. Smh

4. Fond of or Addicted to Smoking & Drinking Alcohols
Even though they are perfectly aware of the defects of how much these are injurious to the health, you will see them indulge in taking these injurious substances.

Some of them share the same gene with goats. Are they in any way different from the illiterates? cheesy No they are not

5. Engaging in Unprotected s*x
Some of them show gratification for calculatively and expertly sleeping with several ladies without releasing semen. You will find them at every barber’s shop troubling the barber to sterilize the clippers properly before using it on their hair.

They aren’t afraid of sexually transmitted diseases but are so much concerned about contacting diseases arising from the use of public clippers. Isn’t this illiteracy? It is

6. Not adhering to warnings/instructions
Some people are illiterate solely because they cannot read and write, and we accept that; but what about those who can read and can understand written from of communication yet disobey? Some of them will see warnings such as “Don’t drive when drunk”; “Wreckless driving kills”, “obey traffic rules”, etc; yet you will see them at Lagos-Ibadan Expressway competing with every trailer and Dangote truck.

7. Defecating in Public Places
This goes to the male folks. We have various species of them living beside my villa. They have good toilets yet you will see them defecating beside other people’s houses (they call it short put). I even fought with a dude yesterday for defecating beside my room cheesy This is nothing but illiteracy

8. Visiting the Brothel
If you surf through the net you will find numerous customized pictures, blogs, articles etc. Showing how “WE” blame our Govt, Police, Politicians, School System, etc. for all the evils happening to us. As a matter of fact, not every problem should be attributed to bad governance because sometimes, we are the architect of our own problems.

Some educated people spend irresponsibly, such as not saving money for future hardships; squandering their hard earned money on Olosho and Ashewos, all for five minutes enjoyment. this is another height of illiteracy common with the educated ones

9. Fighting in Public
Some of them will not hesitate of pull off their shirts and trousers and start fighting with conductor for their change. However, you will even see some of them fighting abo.ki selling suya for ordinary tasting.

10. Feel free to add the last one

Father Rapes And Infects 6-Year-Old Daughter With STD

Harrison Agu, a 35-year-old man, has been arraigned before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Lagos State, for allegedly defiling his six-year-old daughter and infecting her with a sexually transmitted disease in the process. Agu, a father of three who resides with his family at 23, Rotimi Omotosho Street, Isheri Osun, Lagos, was charged with indecent treatment of a minor, an offence that carries a seven-year imprisonment if found guilty. The police prosecutor in the case, Inspector Simon Imhonwa , had told the court that the Agu regularly raped his own daughter within the last three years and that he started the shameful act when his wife went for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps scheme in 2013. “The accused began the assault in 2013 when the child’s mother was away for the compulsory one year NYSC. It was during this period that the child fell ill with a serious infection in her genitals for the first time. Thereafter, the mother of the child observed that the child’s genitals regularly produced a foul smell with discharges. The mother took the child to the hospital where it was confirmed that she had been defiled and infected with the disease. The mother said her child told her that Agu always asked her to remove her jeans and pants and then he will put his hand in her ‘bum bum’ (vagina) and if she refuses, he beats her,” the prosecutor said. He further told the court that police investigations into the case revealed that the child had been physically and emotionally abused since she was aged 3. However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge and the Magistrate, Mrs Bola Osunsanmi, admitted him to bail in the sum of N500,000, and ordered that the file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

OAU Stops Automatic Employment For First Class Graduates

OAU logo

The Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awowolo University, Ile Ife, Prof. Bamitale Omole, yesterday said the university would no longer offer automatic employment to graduates who make First Class degree. Omole was addressing journalists in Ile Ife at a news conference to mark the 41st convocation ceremony of the institution. He said graduates who make First Class should forget about automatic employment as there is no more vacancy as a result of the current economic situation in the country. He noted that the idea of giving automatic employment to First Class graduates by the university was designed in the 1980s to retain them because they were not always willing to remain in the academics.
“The truth is that our First Class graduates should forget about automatic employment considering the dwindling resources and given the large number of students who obtain first class grade now. It is no longer possible for us to offer them automatic employment,” he said. Do you think is a good decision?
